The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit all love you in their own personal and special ways and they're eager to show you just how special you are to each of them. Recently in my life my paradigm of how I relate to the Trinity has changed. Most people know the Holy Spirit is there, they know that he's at least a thing, but they don't know who he is or who they are to Him. I'm not sure how I related to the trinity before. I think I kinda figured that they were all listening, or operating all at once, which is true, but I didn't know who I was talking to or why I would even care to talk to each member of the Godhead, or if I even should. But in recent weeks Holy Spirit has made himself known to me in special ways.
We all interact with Holy Spirit on a daily basis. He operates in us and is so intricate in our lives though when we interact with Him its like just going through your day. You may get a thought to go to the new juice bar instead of your favorite coffee bar today, and wind up reconnecting with a friend you were thinking about and have a nice catch up session. That's the Holy Spirit leading you in who you are because He made you to interact with Him. Sometimes we make "following the Holy Spirit's lead" much more complicated and self involved than it needs to be. He is a friend who knows you better than you know yourself. I think that the difference we begin to experience when we acknowledge the Holy Spirits movement in our lives is we become much more conscious of what he does with us and then begin to interact with him in a more focused way. I began to become a little more interested in the Holy Spirit and knowing him personally when I switched churches from my home church to a place that was a little different. I found myself in interesting situations and having spots of my heart and hurts unveiled and healed and it became clear that it was the Holy Spirit who was moving me. But I started to wonder how much was at stake when I didn't listen or follow His lead and He quickly answered me. One day I went to the grocery store cuz sometimes I need to eat, and when I left I looked across the street at the video game store. I remembered that I was looking to get an iPod because I don't like having my music and phone be the same thing cuz when I lose one I lose both and the game store sold iPods. When I entered the store I thought of my little brother who lives in a town where you're a bit lucky to have internet and yet he has fostered a love of videogames, interwebs, and alll other manner of those things the young whipper snappers are into nowadays. I wondered if he had to come all the way into town to buy videogames and what he was up to in life. Lo and behold I looked left and he was standing at the counter with a handful of games and the excitement to play them in tandem. We spent a good amount of time catching up and just enjoying each other's company. Holy Spirit led me there to chat with my family. What other reason other than having that be just a little cherry on both of our days did He have for it? I don't know, maybe a lot, maybe nothing else, but whatever the case He made it clear to me that I don't have to try to be led, I just am. I don't have to have it all figured out, He's got the plan. So get to know the Holy Spirit and the good friend He is and be excited to see Him do some neat things. Some things are huge. Some things are scary. Some things are mundane. Some things will strip away everything you thought you knew. Some things are so small they go unnoticed and that's ok, or they're little love notes that change your day in an instant. Some things will bring new revelation that change the way you see reality forever. Whatever it is that Holy Spirit leads you into, it's good because he is good. He is faithful and never fails to accomplish what he began and set out to do in you, which is make you more like Jesus.
